#WifeyWednesday | A Printable + Some Great Reads

First of all, I made something and I just want to share it. I am challenging myself to read the Book of Mormon by January 1, 2016 (I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. Feel free to learn more here. If you want a free copy of the Book of Mormon, you can get one here!) I decided I need some extra umph in my life and this is how I am going to get it.

Let me know if you care to join me. I would love some camaraderie. You could even finish by Christmas!

Obviously I have a lot of time on my hands...

Okay.

Monday I announced my new posting schedule. I will have three regular features:

Med School Monday: I will exclusively talk about all things school related

Wifey Wednesday: I will give family updates and talk about marriage here and there

Satur-DIY: I will post a new craft and/or tutorial every week

Keep coming back to hold me accountable. :)

If you missed this week's Med School Monday post, go check it out; I caught up with my husband about how M2 (second year of school) is treating him.

Here is a brief family update and some thoughts:

We had an interesting week, for sure. Overall it was good. Jeff had an exam (and punched it right in the face). Riley rolled from back to front three times! We went to the pool, the library, JoAnn Fabric, church, and Target. We spent time with friends and we got ourselves some new neighbors.

Also, when we went to the library I found so many good baby books! Side note: the local library lets you check out 100 books at a time! That blows my mind. I only got six. :)

I cannot wait to dive in. Let me know what you think of all of these. See any favorites? Any other suggestions? See any selections that stir a fiery rage in your soul (because I know that happens sometimes)?

I also just finished Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems by Richard Ferber. We tried the Ferber method for oh, less than 24 hours, but we just couldn't do it. It was too stressful. So yeah, still sleep deprived.

I also made something really cool, but I am keeping it under wraps <-- unintentional hint-- because I am sharing it on the very first Satur-DIY. Let's just say Riley can roll both ways so I needed something other than a swaddle... Come back to see it on Saturday. I am a little bit proud of myself. :)

Okay, you guys are ah-mazing!

Have a great Wednesday!

  2. I have heard good things about Baby Whisperer, Baby Wise, and Happiest Baby on the Block, but I haven't read any of them. So I'm excited to hear what you think of them. :) I got lots of good stuff from www.babysleepsite.com. Wishing you a full night's sleep soon! And I love reading your blog, so keep it up!

  3. So glad you got Baby Wise! I bought it with Harper and you could say my copy is now very worn. I'm not a firm believer in "sleep methods" but I have returned to this book time and time again when something gets exceptionally hard with both of my kids. I LOVE the example daily schedules it has for different ages and I just feel empowered when I read it. Gives me the confidence I need as a parent each time I feel defeated by my tiny humans. Also, Ferber method. I don't know all the details on this particular method but we did the "cry it out" deal with Harper when she was about 3 months old and I will honestly say I felt awful about it but I got DESPERATE from all the sleep deprivation. The first two nights were awful and I nearly quit but the third night made me a believer (and supporter) of sleep training! We did a bedtime routine, swaddled her up and rocked her till she was drowsy then laid her down. Left for 5 minutes, then 10 minutes, then 15 minutes, then 20 minutes. We'd consol in between and finally in the last one, she fell asleep. Both first nights took 45 minutes but the third night 15 minutes and every night after got easier!!! She'd nearly be asleep by the time we laid he down after just 4-5 days!!! It was incredible. As for waking up to eat? I just stopped offering food in the middle of the night. That was awful too cuz she cried a lot before finally going back to sleep but after 2 nights she stopped waking up. Babies learn so fast! Good luck! It's hard and stressful and tearful but I can say it is worth it to help your baby learn to consol herself and put herself back to sleep! And it makes you so much happier to be with her when she is awake! We had to retrain Harper when we dropped the swaddle or after she was sick or when she was teething so it was a constant work-in-progress but Harper is an incredible sleeper (still 11-12 hrs a night and a 2 hr nap a day) and I attribute all of it to that first decision to sleep train her. Love you guys! Miss you a lot! You are a wonderful mother to Baby Riley and I wish I was as good a blogger as you! We love reading about your journey!

  6. I love the book of mormon reading chart and have printed them out for my young women. I printed it on 4x6 index paper. Is there a possibility of making a printable with one strip of flowers at the top or bottom of the page with no writing lines? If you make it the same size as your reading chart I can print it smaller. I just wanted to print note paper to coordinate with their reading chart.

  7. What am I doing wrong? When I go to print off the floral reading chart, it cuts off the edges.
Your stuff is absolutely darling! Thanks for all you do!

  9. I'm having the same problem as Tatiana-- The edges are gone on the floral BOM chart when I download it. Am I doing something wrong? We are doing a new reading program with my Young Women and this would be perfect. Thanks!!
